Mattie Polson and James Stafford's children were: Joe, Jess, Lawn, Ace, Bess, Zune, Florence, Georgie, and Jimmie Alva. Ace was the youngest and Jimmie was next to the youngest. Joe Stafford and his youngest child and wife all died in the flu epidemic of 1919. Zune died as a young woman, but we don't know what caused her death. When Joe and his wife died, they were survived by two small boys, Clarence and Clifford Stafford. Mattie and James Stafford raised Clifford and the other grandparents raised Clarence. Jimmie Alva was a teenager living at home when Clarence came to live with them. She was very attached to Clifford for the rest of her life. Jimmie Alva Stafford Love and my mother drove to Oklahoma twice to visit your mother, Aunt Florence, when she was in a nursing home. I think this was during the seventies. I know that Jimmie's birth was recorded in the Cherokee tribal records. The other children's births were probably also recorded there. That is probably a place where parentage could be traced. My mother was really tickled when I phoned to tell her about your posting. I really, really hope that you will contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
. We are cousins several times removed. There is much more to say. I will be checking for word from you.
Your delighted cousin, Lanette!
