My direct line is through family 1a - william adams and nancy milligan. I have this William as the Son of John Adams and is I think brother or first cousin to David Adams in your family 1. The family 1 settled into Ohio and east central Iowa (Newton, IA)in the 1850's and Family 1a settled in to the South Central (Osceola, IA) area. Through the Milligan side of this connection, I have there is quite a bit of information - let me know if you are still needing it. I don't have it with me now but can get the for you. (email@example.com
) You will find many of these adams's settling in western Iowa and Burt Co. Nebraska, etc. and are still there. There was another Adams family in area too - that is tied into my family several different ways...
125. JOHN JAMIESON7 ASHBY (SAMUEL6, JOHN5, ROBERT4, CAPTAIN THOMAS3, UNKNOWN2, ASHBY1) was born 12 Jan 1802 in Oakwood, Delaplane, Virginia, and died 03 Nov 1864 in Alexandria, Virginia. He married SARAH ADAMS. She was born Abt. 1810.
Children of JOHN ASHBY and SARAH ADAMS are:
216. i. CAPT. JOHN TURNER8 ASHBY, b. 15 May 1841, Oakwood, Faquier, Virginia; d. 27 Dec 1928, Soldiers Home, Fauquier, Viginia.
217. ii. HENRY STRIBLING ASHBY, b. 20 Dec 1845, Oakwood, Delaplane, Virginia; d. 10 Sep 1909, Fauquier Co., Virginia.
It gets pretty confusing.
I have Caruthers, Crothers, Clark, Cline, Klines, Smith, Coleman, Donley, Karnes, Manly, Milligan, Wheeler, McLeland, Talbott's, etc. Look into the Ashby's, Van Meter and Harrison, carson's, crawfords, evans, woods, lozier, marquis, and you will just to name a few that get mixed into the pot in various locations through ohio, indiana, kentucky, during this same 1820-1870 period.
