I am seeking information on the relatives and, in particular, the children (if any) and step-children (surname Tharin) of Ephraim Mitchell.
He worked on preparation of the 1775 Mouzon map of the Carolinas. During the Revolutionary War he served as a Major in the 4th South Carolina Regiment (Artillery), in command of 4 fieldpieces.
He married widow Susanna Tharin in Charleston 20 May 1789, being described as "of Little River", SC. She was step-mother to the 5 children of Daniel and Elizabeth (Long) Tharin. Daniel's will: "my five Children named Daniel Felix Lewis Elizabeth and Eliza". Felix was Felix John Tharin, d. Dec 1, 1801. Lewis was Christian Lewis Tharin (not Lewis Senf Tharin). Elizabeth (Long) Tharin had died May 13, 1786, "in child bed of her fifth child" [Eliza].
The [Charleston] City Gazette & Daily Advertiser reported on March 16, 1792: "Died at his plantation in St. John, Berkley county, major Ephraim Mitchell".
