I have learned that Graves HOSMER was a cpl midshipman in the Revolutionary War and served on the "frigate Trumbull".

Question: If Graves HOSMER was born in Hartford, CT (1756) - married to Amy CONGDON - and their first several children were born in the city of New London in the 1780s and 1790s - then when he served prior to the birth of the children - did this frigate go "out of the port of New London"??

Anyone know some New London history in the time of the Revolutionary War? Or anything about this frigate in general? Was there "shipbuilding" in New London? Very basic questions here - but would really like to learn more...

Thanks, debbie
