Roger LeRoy Deisley, the son of Lois (White) and Stephen Roy Deisley, was born August 17, 1941 at Madrid, Nebraska. He departed this life on, Friday, October 5, 2007 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 18 days.

Roger grew up on the farm in the Riverton area and received his formal education attending the Riverton schools, where he was a standout athlete. He was an all-state selection, competing and setting numerous records in football, as well as on the basketball court. A lifelong resident of the Republican River Valley, Roger raised his family and farmed for over twenty years in the Red Cloud area. He then focused his career operating heavy equipment and doing land leveling work with Siel Construction.

His personality was pervaded by genuine nature, as well as his concern and caring for his family and friends. He displayed a tireless work ethic and was an inspiration to his family by the examples he set. The eldest of six brothers, Roger always displayed his proclivity of leadership throughout his life. In his younger years, he enjoyed coyote hunting with Sara and Mark, and sharing his love of the land and their community. His greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for his family and he was especially proud of his three grandchildren. Roger will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Preceding him in death were his father, Steve Deisley and his brother, Doug. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Mark Deisley of Syracuse, Nebraska; his daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Ron Meyer of Juniata, Nebraska; 3 grandchildren, Janae, Jaci and Grant; his mother, Lois Deisley of Red Cloud; his special friend, Chris Flohrs; 5 brothers, Virgil of Inavale; Howard and Larry of Red Cloud; Gale of Greeley, Colorado and Mike of Lincoln, Nebraska; nieces, nephews; other relatives and his many friends.

The Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud NE is in charge of the arrangements.
