Johnny "Buck" Owens
(October 14, 1932 - April 14, 2008)
Johnny “Buck” Owens went to be with our beloved Father, our two children, and other loved ones on April 14, 2008. Cancer took him from us. Buck was born October 14, 1932 near Jesse, Oklahoma to John and Bina Underwood Owens. He was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Lynn Owens in 1971, one daughter, Vickie “Michelle” Owens Johnson in 2002, three brothers, Sam Owens, Cub Owens, and Virgil Owens, two sisters, Lora Mae “Polly” Morgan, and Ella “Dink” Hisaw and many other loved ones.
Buck is survived by his loving wife, Nadine Owens, of the home; daughter, Shawnda Russell, Ada; granddaughters, Ashley Russell of Ada, and Tonia Renick of Ada; two grandsons, John Johnson and wife Jamie, Gilmer, Texas, and Alvie Johnson of Shreveport, LA; six great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and two brothers, Frank Owens, Ada, and Benny Owens, Tupelo.
Buck was an active member of the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard, the Chickasaw Senior Citizens, and Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was in active service for two years during the Korean War and received numerous medals.
Pall bearers will be members of the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard, Bernie Seeley, Will Johnson, Jim Perry, Solomon Gantt, Roy Worcester, Michael Worcester, Ray Orphan, Ted Underwood, Jimmy James, Tommy Lyda, Mike Reed, Larry Cohee, Ben Willis, David Engle, Emery Roberts, Bennie John, and Tony Palmer.
Criswell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Services will be at Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church with Reverend Frank Trent officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home.
