H.M. “JACK” SANDERS
Horace Murdock Sanders, a resident of New Braunfels, TX passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Compass Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 78. Jack was born on January 21, 1928 in San Antonio TX to Horace Murdock Sanders and Florence McDaniel Sanders. He later married Blanche Petrich Sanders on September 17, 1955 in San Antonio. Jack served his country proudly in the United States Army during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after more than 20 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Blanche Sanders, who passed away on October 15, 2005. Survivors include his children, Mary Elizabeth Connolly, of Dallas, Florence Ann Wells of New Braunfels, Margaret McKenzie, of Centreville, VA, and Catherine Sanders, of New Braunfels as well as 6 grandchildren, Brittney Leigh Wells, Theresa McKenzie, Alison Connolly, Christopher McKenzie, Ann Marie McKenzie, and Petra Connolly; sister, Sue Ellen Winter, of Granbury, TX.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels with a rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m.. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Mike as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
