Robert Cone Perkins was born July 10, 1925 in Oshkosh, WI to John and Rhea Perkins. He died peacefully on April 4, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. He had a 30 year career in the US Air Force which took him to stations throughout the U.S. and the Pacific. During World War II he served as a pilot/instructor and officer. Later he was among the first to be awarded the new rank of Chief Master Sergeant. After his military retirement, he worked 27 years for the State of Texas. He made San Antonio his home with his wife of 43 years, Josephine M. Perkins. They joined families and together, they had a daughter, Lisa Marie. He is survived by his children, Ruth, John, Jim, Darrell and Lisa, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also by his sister, Patricia Schram; his brothers, Jim and Almer Perkins and their spouses. Bob’s hobbies included gourmet cooking and caring for his family, friends and loyal dogs. He served as President of the Good Neighbor Council and held offices in the Harp & Shamrock Society where he cooked the Irish Stew for the Folklife Festival for many years. Bob gave of himself in many ways and helped many people. He was and always will be remembered as a man of high caliber and our loss has no measure. We will miss him!Visitation will be Monday, April 9, 2007 from 6-9PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10 at 3PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park North. Donations in Bob’s name may be made to the charity of choice.
