Rev. Harold Smisor
(December 18, 1933 - November 23, 2009)
TRYON, NC – Rev. Harold Norman Smisor, 75, of Peniel Road, Tryon, NC passed away, Monday morning, November 23, 2009 at his home.
Born in Marion, IN, he was the son of the late Berton and Ruby Breedlove Smisor. He was first married to Janet Matthews Smisor who died in 1975 and later married Ann Reece Smisor who died in 1993. Rev. Smisor was a graduate of Friends University in Wichita, KS, attended Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, KY and began pastoring in 1959. He has served many churches over the years with his last being the Mill Spring Methodist Charge.
Surviving are his wife, June Holbert Hill Smisor; three sons, Matthew Smisor (Robin) of Rockledge, FL; Mark Smisor (Theresa) of Memphis, TN and Kenneth Smisor (Wendy) of Pearland, TX; two stepsons, Grant Wooten of Rocky Mount, NC and Jamey Hill (Katie) of High Point, NC; five step-daughters, Beth Faircloth (Ricky) of East Bend, NC, Cathy Shore (Tommy) of Yadkinville, NC, Joy Garcia (Jorge) of Piedmont, SC, Jeri Redman (Scott) of Manassas, VA, and Jennifer Furman (Wright) of Campobello, SC; one sister, Bonnie Bedwell (Dexter) of Marion, IN. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in New Hope United Methodist Church, Rutherfordton, NC with Rev. Butch Osborn, Rev. Ned Owens, Rev. Don Llewelyen and Rev. Alice Day officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC.
Burial will be in Grant Memorial Cemetery, Marion, IN.
