SERVICE SET SATURDAY FOR GEORGE GULDAGER
A funeral will be held in Eugene Saturday for Dr. George F. Guldager who died Jan. 9 at his home at Rt. 3 Box 42-B, Springfield. He was 78.
A physician for the University of Oregon's athletic teams for 35 years, Guldager practiced in Eugene from 1928 until his retirement last year. He became the team physician in 1939.
He was born May 26, 1896 in Iola, Wis., and moved to Oregon as a youngster. He graduated from Harrisburg High School and the University of Oregon and received his M.D. degree from Loyola University Medical School in Chicago.
Survivors include his wife, the former Harriett Plotts whom he married at Port Angeles, Wash., in 1939; one daughter and three sons, Mrs. Richard (Karen) Smith and Charles W. Guldager of Coburg, George K. and Frederik B. Guldager, both of Eugene; and three grandchildren.
Guldager was a veteran of WW I, a life member of the Eugene Elks Lodge No. 357, a member of Thurston Lodge No. 28 AF&AM and Scottish Rite, a past potentate of Hilla Temple Shrine, past director of Jesters Court No. 108 Ashland and past president of PNSA. He also was an honorary member of the Order of the O.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at McGaffey-Andreason Eugene Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Wesley G. Nicholson, D.D., and Thurston Lodge #28 AF&AM officiating. Private interment will take place in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
In Guldager's memory, donations may be made to the Shrine Hospital in care of the funeral chapel. Visitation hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
